Document Checklist Items fail to migrate with REQUIRED_FIELD_MISSING: ParentRecordId or INSUFFICIENT_ACCESS_ON_CROSS_REFERENCE_ENTITY errors

Veröffentlichungsdatum: Jul 16, 2026
Beschreibung

When migrating Document Checklist Item records using data import tools (e.g., Data Loader, Bulk API), some records fail with one or both of the following errors:

  • REQUIRED_FIELD_MISSING: Required fields are missing: [ParentRecordId]
  • INSUFFICIENT_ACCESS_ON_CROSS_REFERENCE_ENTITY: insufficient access rights on cross-reference id

These errors occur even when the migration successfully processes the majority of records, with only a subset failing.

Lösung
  1. REQUIRED_FIELD_MISSING on ParentRecordId: The ParentRecordId field on Document Checklist Items is a polymorphic lookup that must reference a valid, existing record in the destination org. Ensure that all parent records (e.g., Application, Program Enrollment, or other related objects) have been migrated and committed before attempting to migrate Document Checklist Items. Verify the ID mapping between source and destination orgs — using an external ID or a cross-reference mapping file is recommended.
  2. INSUFFICIENT_ACCESS_ON_CROSS_REFERENCE_ENTITY: This error occurs when the running user does not have access to the referenced parent record in the destination org. Check the following:
    1. The migration user has Read access to the parent object.
    2. Sharing rules or record ownership in the destination org are not restricting access to recently migrated parent records.
    3. If using the Bulk API, ensure the migration batch for parent records has fully completed and record ownership is assigned before inserting child Document Checklist Items.
  3. Recommended approach: Migrate records in dependency order — parent objects first, then Document Checklist Items. Use an external ID on the parent object to handle cross-reference mapping cleanly.
