Users may have issues connecting to Tableau Server data sources from Tableau Desktop. The Sign-in dialog box appears, and clicking Sign in results in the same dialog box appearing again.
This can happen with LBLM Licensing for Desktop and Tableau Server changing URLs or adding HTTPS.
The issue is cached licensing data, which can be refreshed by getting a new activation. To do this, follow these steps:
