Custom JavaScript Validation Script Does Not Execute on Direct Submission of Inquiry Record with "Submitted" Status

Publish Date: Jun 25, 2026
Description

A custom JavaScript validation script configured in LSC Workflow Configuration does not fire when an Inquiry record is submitted directly with a 'Submitted' status.

Root Cause

Custom JavaScript validation scripts in LSC Workflow Configuration only fire when a user clicks the designated Workflow Action button. They do not execute on programmatic updates or direct status assignments.

Resolution

Resolution Steps

  1. Ensure end users submit Inquiry records by clicking the designated Workflow Action button — not by changing the status field directly.

  2. Review and update the JavaScript validation script to handle edge cases.

  3. Test all relevant submission scenarios to confirm validation fires as expected.

Note: Triggering the script outside of the Workflow Action button is not currently supported. User training is recommended as a complementary control.
