Description

Metadata Cache generation stalls or fails to complete when initiated by a user with a custom System Administrator profile (cloned from the standard profile).



Root Cause

 

Custom System Administrator profiles (cloned from the standard profile) may lack hidden metadata permissions required to complete cache generation.

Résolution

Workaround
  1. Log in as a standard System Administrator user and regenerate the Metadata Cache.


Long-term Fix — Grant required permissions to the custom admin profile:
  1. Go to Setup > Profiles and open the custom System Administrator profile.
  2. Enable the following permissions:
  • Customize Application
  • Manage Metadata
