Life Sciences Admin Console Displays URL Generation Error When Opening Product Record Types

Description

When administrators click Go to Product Record Types or Go to Product Specification Record Types in the Life Sciences Admin Console, the following error may occur:

"An error occurred while generating a URL. The root cause is a Lightning Web Security policy preventing access to a disallowed endpoint."

This issue occurs because Lightning Web Security (LWS) blocks the generation of navigation URLs for certain endpoints from within the Admin Console. The issue affects only the navigation buttons and does not impact the underlying Product or Product Specification record type configurations.

 

Resolution

As a workaround, navigate directly through Salesforce Setup to access and manage the required record types.

For Product Record Types:

  1. Navigate to Setup
  2. Select Object Manager.
  3. Open Product.
  4. Select Record Types.
  5. Create or modify the required record types.

For Product Specification Record Types:

  1. Navigate to Setup.
  2. Search for and open Product Specification Record Types.
  3. Create or modify the required record types.

Best Practices

  • Regenerate the metadata cache after making changes in the Life Sciences Admin Console.
  • On the Life Sciences iPad application, perform a manual sync after regenerating the metadata cache.
  • Profile-level settings override org-default settings. Verify configurations at the profile level for mobile users.
  • When adding custom fields for display in Life Sciences Cloud, ensure the fields are added to all relevant Field Sets and that users have Read access to the fields.
