Tableau Next Running Total Calculation (Pane Down) behaviour changes post summer 26 release

게시 일자: Jul 3, 2026
상세 설명

Prior to the Summer '26 release, users could apply a Running Total table calculation directly to an isolated measure field in the view and set the computation to "Pane (Down)" to calculate totals within a specific visual category.

Due to calculation changes in the recent release, applying "Pane (Down)" directly to a standalone measure may no longer implicitly recognize the pane boundaries. This can result in the running total calculating continuously across the entire table (acting like Table Down) or returning unexpected values.

To ensure the calculation strictly respects the visual partitioning of your panes, the view must now be explicitly structured using the Measure Names and Measure Values fields.

솔루션

To resolve this issue and achieve the correct "Pane (Down)" running total, restructure your view using the following steps:

1.Add Measure Values:
Drag the Measure Values field from the Data pane and drop it onto the Label (or Text) mark on the Marks card.
2.Add Measure Names:
Drag the Measure Names field from the Data pane and drop it onto the Columns shelf.
3.Isolate your target measure:
On the Measure Values shelf (which appears below the Marks card), add specific measure for which you want to calculate the running total.
4.Apply the Table Calculation:
Right-click the remaining measure on the Measure Values shelf, select Quick Table Calculation, and click Running Total.
5.Set the computing direction:
Right-click that same measure again, navigate to Compute Using, and select Pane (Down).
