An unexpected error occurred while enabling SSO in one of the Tableau Cloud sites

Description

The user encountered an unexpected error while enabling SSO on a Tableau site.

Steps:

  1. Go to Tableau Cloud > Settings > Authentication
  2. Try to add New Configuration
  3. Choose SAML/SSO authentication type
  4. Enter the necessary credentials and configuration details, and the system immediately returns error:

Cause:

Invalid XML metadata file.

Resolution
  1. Review the XML file trying to be uploaded: 
    1. Edit the file with any text editor and fix any possible invalid characters or get a new one.
  2. Try to upload it again
