Key Differences Between NextGen and Legacy Commitment Processing

  • NextGen prioritizes the Gift Commitment Schedule’s Campaign over the Gift Commitment’s Campaign. When attributing a Campaign to a Gift Transaction, NextGen will check the Gift Commitment Schedule for a related Campaign

  • Legacy automatically created a Gift Default Designation pointing to the org-wide default when no Gift Default Designation existed related to the Gift Commitment. NextGen never creates one for the org-wide default; The Gift Transaction Designations are handled when creating the transaction, if no Gift Default Designation exists on the Gift Commitment, it will set the Gift Transaction Designation to the current org-wide default.

  • Closed Gift Commitments are not processed in the NextGen batch jobs.

  • Legacy did not pick up imported Gift Commitments with a Gift Commitment Schedule and no Gift Transactions. NextGen resolves that.
