Error OAUTH_APP_ACCESS_DENIED Setting Up Tableau AI

公開日: Jul 1, 2026
説明

When attempting to connect to Salesforce from Tableau Cloud (for example, when configuring Tableau AI), the login to Salesforce succeeds, but the following error occurs in Tableau:

OAuth error response, generally means someone clicked cancel: OAUTH_APP_ACCESS_DENIED (errorCode=180002)

Environment

  • Tableau Cloud

Root Cause

If there is a custom OAuth application registered in Salesforce with a blank OAuth Instance URL, Tableau Cloud uses this custom application instead of the default "Tableau Online for Salesforce" connected app. The error occurs because the user attempting the connection does not have the necessary permissions assigned for this custom application in Salesforce.

解決策

To resolve this issue, grant the necessary permissions to the affected user for the custom OAuth application being used for the connection in Salesforce.

  1. Log in to Salesforce as an administrator.
  2. Identify the custom connected app or external client app with a blank OAuth Instance URL being used for the Tableau Cloud connection..
  3. Grant the required access permissions for this custom application to the affected user (e.g., the user registering for Tableau AI).

You can also change to use the "Tableau Online for Salesforce" connected app by changing the OAuth Instance URL from blank. However, recreating the custom OAuth application will require renewing the authentication token and reconnecting the data source.
