Salesforce Maps requires that the Permission Set License (PSL) be assigned to a user before the corresponding Permission Set (PS) is assigned. Assigning the PS before the PSL causes a permission error. The error does not clearly indicate the ordering problem, leading admins to attempt reassignment without resolving the root cause.
Each Maps product has a specific PSL and a corresponding PS that must match. For example, Maps Advanced requires both the Salesforce Maps Advanced PSL and the SF Maps Advanced PS. Assigning the base Maps PS to a Maps Advanced user does not grant access to Advanced features.
Access to layers saved in Corporate Folder subfolders requires the Folder Administrator permission to be enabled in the user’s Maps Permission Group. Standard permission set assignment alone does not grant Corporate Folder access unless Folder Permissions is also enabled in Maps Configure Settings.
I assigned the SF Maps permission set but the user gets an error when accessing Maps. What went wrong?
The most common cause is that the Salesforce Maps Permission Set License was not assigned before the SF Maps permission set. Remove the SF Maps permission set assignment, assign the Salesforce Maps PSL first, and then re-assign the SF Maps PS.
A user has the correct permissions but still cannot see layers saved in the Corporate Folder. How do I fix this?
Corporate Folder access requires two things: (1) Folder Permissions must be enabled in Maps Configure Settings → General, and (2) the user must have the Folder Administrator permission enabled in their Permission Group. Verify both settings are configured.
How do I give a user access to Maps Advanced features in addition to standard Maps?
The user needs both the standard Maps PSL + PS and the Maps Advanced PSL + PS. Assign Salesforce Maps PSL and SF Maps first, then assign Salesforce Maps Advanced PSL and SF Maps Advanced. Always assign each PSL before its corresponding PS.
We have Experience Cloud users who need Maps access. What licenses do they need?
Experience Cloud users require the Salesforce Maps Community Logins PSL and the SF Maps Community Logins PS, or the Salesforce Maps Community Named User PSL and SF Maps Community Named User PS, depending on their access type. These are separate licenses from the standard Salesforce Maps license and must be purchased through your Account Executive.
