Student Appointment Booking Wizard Issues: Empty Topic/Subtopic Dropdown, "Remove engagementChannelTypeId" Error, and No Timeslots Showing for Community Users

Fecha de publicación: Jul 1, 2026
Descripción
Environment: Education Cloud | Student Success | Experience Cloud (Community)
User License: Customer Community Plus
Permission Set: Education Cloud for Experience Cloud Access

Issue 1 — Topic/Subtopic Dropdown Empty:

Community users navigating to the Appointments tab → Schedule Appointment button see no values in the Topic or Subtopic dropdowns after selecting Success Team and Advisor.

Filters that are applicable here:
  1. Work Type of Work Type Group should not be of drop in category.
  2. Work Type of Work Type Group is present in the service territory of selected staff members
  3. Work Type of Work Type Group is linked to engagement channels
Issue 2 — "Remove the engagementChannelTypeId parameter and try again" Error:

After resolving Issue 1, clicking Check Availability may return the following error:
Remove the engagementChannelTypeId parameter and try again
Root Cause: The "Use service territory member's shift" option may not enabled in the Scheduling Policy. This setting is required for Education Cloud scheduling components to function correctly

Issue 3 — No Timeslots Showing After Clicking Check Availability:

After enabling shifts in the Scheduling Policy, Check Availability no longer errored but returned zero results:

In Network Response:
No timeslots are available for the given channels
Root Cause: Multiple Shift configuration gaps were identified:
  • Shift record was not in "Confirmed" status
  • Shift was not linked to the correct Work Type Group (via the WorkTypeGroup field on the Shift record, or via a Shift Work Topic record if "Multiple Topics for Shifts" is enabled)
  • Shift Work Topic records were missing (0 records on the Work Type Group related list)
  • The advisor user did not have permission to be included in appointments in Salesforce Scheduler.
Solución
Fix for Issue 1 — Empty Topic/Subtopic Dropdown:
  1. Navigate to the Work Type associated with the affected Work Type Group
  2. Ensure the Work Type category is not set to "Drop-In"
  3. Change to the appropriate non-Drop-In category
  4. Retry the Schedule Appointment flow — Topic/Subtopic values should now populate
Fix for Issue 2 — "Remove engagementChannelTypeId" Error:
  1. Go to SetupScheduling Policies
  2. Open the default Scheduling Policy used by the org
  3. Enable "Use service territory member's shift"
  4. Save the policy
  5. Retry Check Availability — the error should be resolved
Fix for Issue 3 — No Timeslots for Advisor (Scheduler Permission Missing):
  1. Assign the Education Cloud Full Access permission set to the advisor user
    • OR create a custom permission set and enable the system permission: "Let a user be included in appointments in Salesforce Scheduler"
  2. Assign the permission set to the advisor user
  3. Retry the Appointment Booking wizard — advisor timeslots should now be visible
