Financial Services Cloud: New Button on Financial Account Redirects to Unrecognized Page After Record Type Selection

Publish Date: Jul 2, 2026
Description

This article explains why the standard New button on the Financial Account (FinancialAccount) object in Financial Services Cloud sends you to an unrecognized page after you choose a record type, preventing manual creation of a Financial Account.
Symptoms
The behavior occurs when you:

  1. Open the Financial Account list view.
  2. Click New.
  3. Select a record type from the record type selection screen.
  4. The page that loads does not correspond to any custom or default Lightning record page in your org.

The issue may affect all record types or only specific ones. No error text is displayed — the symptom is an unexpected redirect or incomplete page display.

Resolution

Work through the causes below in order. Most redirects are caused by a missing Lightning record page assignment for a Financial Account record type.

Cause 1: A Lightning record page is not assigned for one or more Financial Account record types

Steps to Resolve:

1. Go to Setup > Object Manager > Financial Account [FinancialAccount] > Lightning Record Pages.
2. Review each listed page and verify:

* One page is set as Org Default.
* Every active record type is assigned to a Lightning record page.

3. If a record type has no page assignment:

* Click the page you want to use.
* Click Activation.
* Select Assign as App Default or Assign as Org Default.
* Choose the App, Record Type, and Profile combination.
* Click Save.

4. Repeat for each active Financial Account record type. Do not leave any record type unassigned.

Cause 2: A Dynamic Forms field section on the Lightning record page contains zero fields

This issue typically manifests as a page that loads but shows only empty sections (for example, an empty "Collateral" section) with no fields to fill out.
Steps to Resolve:

1. Go to Setup > Object Manager > Financial Account [FinancialAccount] > Lightning Record Pages.
2. Click the Lightning record page used for record creation. (Click Activation on the page to view its assigned record types and apps.)
3. Click Edit to open the page in Lightning App Builder.
4. Review all Field Section components on the page.
5. For any field section that contains zero fields:

* Option A: Click the section, then drag and drop required fields into it from the left panel.
* Option B: Click the section and delete it by clicking the trash icon.

6. Click Save.

Cause 3: The New button override sends users to a non-standard page

By default, FSC does not override the New button, but your org may have customized it.
Steps to Resolve:

1. Go to Setup > Object Manager > Financial Account [FinancialAccount] > Buttons, Links, and Actions.
2. Click New and review Override Type.
3. If the Override Type is set to anything other than Standard Salesforce.com Page (No Override):

* Set Override Type to Standard Salesforce.com Page (No Override).
* Remove any Visualforce Page or Lightning Component override unless your org intentionally uses one.

4. Click Save.

Cause 4: The record type is inactive or not assigned to the creating user's profile

Steps to Resolve:

1. Go to Setup > Object Manager > Financial Account [FinancialAccount] > Record Types.
2. Confirm the Active checkbox is selected for the record type.
3. Go to Setup > Profiles > [the affected profile] > Object Settings > Financial Accounts > Record Types.
4. Confirm:  The record type is in the Selected Record Types list. A Default record type is set.
