Patient Timeline renders duplicate event records when multiple event types selected from "Select All Events"

Date de publication: Jul 2, 2026
Description

When viewing the Patient Timeline component on a Person Account record, users can filter activities by selecting one or more event types (for example, Email, Task, or Event).

If multiple event types are selected rapidly before the loading spinner completes, the Timeline issues multiple concurrent requests. Due to a client-side rendering issue, overlapping responses are not deduplicated before being displayed, causing the same activity record to appear more than once.

This behavior is temporary and affects only how records are displayed in the user interface. It does not create duplicate activity records in Salesforce.

Résolution

The following are some recommended best practices to improve the performance of the Timeline component.

Option 1: Select event types one at a time

Wait for the loading spinner to complete before selecting another event type. This prevents overlapping requests and avoids duplicate activity records from appearing.

Option 2: Reduce the default event type selections

If appropriate for your org, reduce the number of event types that are selected by default. This decreases the number of concurrent requests when the Timeline loads.

Option 3 (Recommended): Enable "Show On Load" for commonly used event types

Preloading commonly used event types eliminates the need for users to manually select multiple filters immediately after opening the Timeline, significantly reducing the likelihood of this issue.

To configure this setting:

  1. Navigate to Setup.
  2. Search for Timeline View Configurations in the Quick Find box.
  3. Open the Timeline View Configuration records for the event types most frequently used by your users (for example, Email, Task, and Event).
  4. Select the "Show On Load" checkbox.
  5. Save your changes.
  6. Open a Person Account and verify that the selected event types load automatically when the Timeline is opened.

Long-term Recommendation

Salesforce recommends migrating from the legacy Patient Timeline to Enhanced Timeline, which provides improved performance, more configuration options, and a more responsive user experience.
