When opening or repricing a Quote, a Revenue Transaction Error Log (RTEL) is generated with the error:
"We couldn't find a valid tax treatment for the quote line item [ID]."
The quote displays the message: "We couldn't process your request. Learn more in the Revenue Transaction Error Logs."
This error occurs when the "Add Estimated Taxes to Quotes and Orders" toggle is enabled under Setup → Revenue Settings, but Billing is not enabled in the org or the product does not have a valid Tax Policy / Tax Treatment configured.
When this toggle is on, the system attempts to calculate estimated tax on the quote. For this to work, Billing must be set up and the product must have a valid Tax Treatment assigned.
To resolve:
If tax/Billing is not in use: Disable the "Add Estimated Taxes to Quotes and Orders" toggle under Revenue Settings, then re-add or reprice the product. The error will no longer appear.
If tax calculation is required: Complete the Billing/tax setup and ensure the product has a Tax Policy assigned with a valid Tax Treatment (use a "No Tax" treatment if the product is non-taxable). Only enable the toggle after the tax engine is properly configured.
