This issue occurs in Salesforce Field Service when a Maintenance Plan's assigned owner is an inactive Salesforce user. When that owner is inactive, the system lacks the necessary permissions to create Work Orders, Work Order Line Items, and Service Appointments.
Error message:
"We generated 0 of 0 work orders, 0 of 0 work order line items, and 0 of 0 service appointments for your MP-0044 InActive Owner Auto Test maintenance plan. We couldn't generate records because the maintenance plan owner doesn't have permission to create work orders or service appointments. Ask your Salesforce admin for help."
Note: Work Orders generated manually via the "Generate Work Order" action on the Maintenance Plan record are not affected by this issue — they generate as expected. The failure only occurs during the automated (scheduled) generation process.
Option 1 — Single Maintenance Plan (Manual Reassignment)
Option 2 — Multiple Maintenance Plans (Mass Transfer)
Use the Mass Transfer Records tool to reassign ownership in bulk when multiple Maintenance Plans are affected.
Note: Ensure the new owner's profile includes the following permissions: Create on Work Order, Work Order Line Item, and Service Appointment objects. Also, validate the Maintenance Plan configuration and necessary changes if required.
