Your org's policy is blocking the Slack app" Error After Reconnecting Salesforce-Slack Integration.

Publish Date: Jul 10, 2026
Description

In connected app Oauth usage there can be multiple Slack-related connected apps present in a Salesforce org, but often check only the ones visibly named "Slack" or "Slack Auth" and find them unblocked — but miss a third app further down the list on the Connected Apps OAuth Usage page.

The three apps to be checked in case:

App NamePurposeNotes
Slack (legacy)Old AppExchange-based Slack app (~6–8 years old)Still present in many orgs; not used by modern integrations
Slack (modern)Newer Slack integration / Slack AIThis is the one that gets blocked
SlackForce AuthAuth layer for modern Slack integrationsAlso required; must be unblocked

When the modern Slack connected app is blocked either intentionally by an admin tightening security or inadvertently the integration fails with the app_blocked error. Because there are two apps named "Slack".

Resolution

Step 1 — Unblock the Slack connected app in Salesforce

  1. Go to Setup → Connected Apps OAuth Usage (/lightning/setup/ConnectedAppsUsage/home)
  2. Scroll to find any blocked Slack-related connected app
  3. Click Unblock on the blocked app(s)
  4. Repeat for SlackForce Auth if it is also blocked

Step 2 — Sync Users from Slack Admin

After unblocking, users who previously failed auth will remain in a failed state until a sync is performed:

  1. Open Slack Admin
  2. Navigate to Manage Salesforce Organizations
  3. Find the Salesforce org connection
  4. Click the Manage dropdown → select "Sync Users"

This resets all auth-failed states for all users in the org. Auto-auth will then re-map users successfully and the error message will be cleared.

Note: There might be multiple slack apps which can be accessed by clicking on More/Next page on Connected Apps OAuth Usage and navigated to the next page.
