Financial Services Cloud: Organization Relationships Assigned Business Record Type Instead of Organization

Publiceringsdatum: Jul 14, 2026
Beskrivning

After a Financial Services Cloud (FSC) managed package upgrade, newly created Organization Relationship records may be assigned the Business (IndustriesBusiness) record type instead of the expected Organization record type.

This behavior is commonly caused by one of the following:

  • The default record type configured for the relationship object on the user's profile or permission set.
  • Automation implemented by a managed package, such as nCino, that assigns a specific record type during Account or relationship creation.

In environments where managed package automation is involved, records created for certain record types may be assigned the Business (IndustriesBusiness) record type, while records created using the Individual record type continue to behave as expected. Although custom automation such as flows or Apex may also be present, they are not always the source of the record type assignment.

Lösning

New Organization Relationship records inherit their record type from either the user's default record type configuration or automation executed during record creation. Use the following steps to identify the source of the assignment.

Cause 1: Default record type is configured as Business

If the user's profile or permission set has Business (IndustriesBusiness) configured as the default record type for the relationship object, new Organization Relationship records inherit that record type.

Verify and update the default record type

  1. Navigate to Setup > Users > Profiles, and open the affected profile.
  2. Locate the Record Type Settings for the relationship object.
  3. Verify whether Business (IndustriesBusiness) is configured as the default record type.
  4. Click Edit for the object.
  5. Ensure Organization is included in the selected record types and set it as the Default Record Type.
  6. Save the changes.
  7. Repeat these steps for any additional profiles or review applicable permission set assignments to ensure a consistent default record type configuration.

Cause 2: Managed package automation assigns the Business record type

Some managed packages, such as nCino, include automation that assigns record types during Account or relationship creation. In these environments, the package logic may apply the Business (IndustriesBusiness) record type regardless of the user's default configuration.

Determine whether managed package automation is the source

  1. Enable debug logging for the user creating the Organization Relationship record, including managed package logging where available.
  2. Create a test Organization Relationship record.
  3. Review the debug logs to determine whether custom flows, Apex, or triggers explicitly set the record type.
  4. Compare the behavior by creating a record using the Individual record type, if applicable, and verify whether it retains the expected record type while other record types are assigned Business (IndustriesBusiness).
  5. If no custom automation is found to be setting the record type, review the managed package configuration or contact the managed package provider for assistance. Record type mappings enforced by managed package logic cannot typically be changed through standard Financial Services Cloud configuration.
