When you enter an IPv6-format address in the login IP allowlist on the Marketing Cloud Engagement Setup screen, a registration error occurs. This is expected behavior because the platform currently supports only IPv4 addresses. There have also been many inquiries about the impact on API communication with Marketing Cloud Engagement when Salesforce Platform IPs include IPv6 addresses following a migration to a Hyperforce environment.
Q. Why can't I add an IPv6 address to the Marketing Cloud Engagement login IP allowlist, and why does an error appear?
A. Marketing Cloud Engagement currently supports only IPv4 addresses and does not support IPv6. Therefore, the platform does not accept IPv6 address registration in the login IP allowlist, and the error on input is expected behavior. At the time of writing, there are no special procedures or workarounds available to add an IPv6 address.
Q. If Salesforce Platform (Hyperforce) IPs become IPv6, does this affect API integration via Marketing Cloud Connect?
A. There is no impact on existing functionality at the time of writing. Currently, outbound calls from Salesforce Platform (communication to external systems) use IPv6 only when the destination endpoint supports dual-stack (both IPv4 and IPv6) or IPv6-only. Because Marketing Cloud Engagement endpoints currently support IPv4 only, Salesforce Platform does not automatically attempt an IPv6 connection. There is therefore no risk of issues such as timeouts — continue using your existing IPv4 address configuration.
