Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud: Grantmaking Settings Missing in Setup or Cannot Be Enabled

Veröffentlichungsdatum: Jul 16, 2026
Beschreibung

When setting up Nonprofit Cloud for Grantmaking, you might expect the feature to be fully available once you assign the Grantmaking Manager permission set. However, many administrators find that the "Grantmaking" node does not appear in the Setup menu at all, or that certain settings remain locked.

Environment & Scope

  • Product: Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud (specifically Grantmaking and Budget Management)

  • User Profile: System Administrator (or a custom profile with the "Customize Application" system permission)

  • Edition: Lightning Experience in Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, or Developer editions where Nonprofit Cloud for Grantmaking has been contractually provisioned.

⚠️ Note: This article covers technical enablement and configuration. It does not cover contractual licensing or org provisioning, which must be completed through your Salesforce Account Executive before these settings become available.

Lösung

To resolve this issue, work through the following troubleshooting and configuration sequence in order.

1. Verify Provisioning & Org Edition: Prerequisite Check.

Before troubleshooting settings, verify that your org has the underlying licenses:

  • Go to Setup > Company Information and confirm your Organization Edition is Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, or Developer.

  • Go to Setup > Installed Packages and check for the Nonprofit Cloud for Grantmaking managed package. If this package or core Grantmaking objects (like Funding Opportunity) are completely missing, contact your Account Executive to ensure the license provisioning process is fully complete.

2. Turn On the Grantmaking Toggle in Setup: Enable the Core Feature.

Assigning permissions does not automatically turn on the global feature switch.

  • Go to Setup and type Grantmaking in the Quick Find box.

  • Click on Grantmaking Settings.

  • Slide the Grantmaking toggle to On.

  • (Optional) If you plan to manage granular budget structures, slide the Budget Management toggle to On. This allows you to track budgets down to individual category and period values.

3. Validate Permission Sets and System Rights: Configure Admin Permissions.

Make sure internal grant administrators have both system-level management rights and application permissions:

  • Go to Setup > Permission Sets and open the Grantmaking Manager permission set.

  • Click Manage Assignments > Add Assignment, select your administrator user, and save.

  • In the same permission set, click System Permissions and ensure that Manage Applications is set to Enabled. Without this system permission, users cannot manage or update grant application structures.

4. Set Up Portal Permissions for External Seekers: Experience Cloud Setup.

If external applicants or reviewers are logging in via a portal:

  • Do not assign them the internal Grantmaking Manager permission set. Instead, assign them the Grantmaking for Experience Cloud permission set.

  • To ensure applicants can successfully launch and submit applications, verify their portal profile has Run Flows enabled, along with Read, Create, and Edit permissions on the Action Plan and Application Form objects.

5. Review Anonymous Intake Limitations: Architectural Note.

If you are attempting to configure fully public, no-login application intakes, please note that Nonprofit Cloud for Grantmaking requires users to authenticate through an Experience Cloud site to submit forms. Fully anonymous, unauthenticated application submissions are not natively supported. Configure secure login pages on your Experience Cloud site and grant the appropriate guest/external access to the Application Form object to manage this lifecycle.

Validation

To confirm the feature is fully active:

  1. Refresh your browser, go to Setup, and type Grantmaking in the Quick Find box. Verify that the Grantmaking Settings node is now visible and active.

  2. Click the App Launcher, search for and select Grantmaking.

  3. Navigate to Funding Opportunities and confirm you can click New to successfully create a record.
