Salesforce: Deactivate an Admin User or Change Admin Privileges

Resolution

Follow the steps below to either deactivate an admin user or change their administrative privileges in Salesforce. Both procedures begin in Setup under Users.

Deactivate an Admin User

  1. Go to Setup by clicking the gear icon in the top right and selecting Setup.
  2. In the Quick Find box, type Users and select Users under Administration.
  3. Locate the admin user you wish to deactivate.
  4. Click Edit next to their name, uncheck the Active checkbox, and click Save.

Change Admin Privileges

  1. Go to Setup by clicking the gear icon in the top right and selecting Setup.
  2. In the Quick Find box, type Users and select Users under Administration.
  3. Locate the admin user whose privileges you wish to change and click their name to open their user detail page.
  4. Click Edit and change their Profile or Permission Sets to adjust their privileges.
  5. Click Save.
