Salesforce NPSP: "Something's missing" error when authorizing the Data Integrity app after a sandbox refresh

Udgivelsesdato: Jul 20, 2026
Beskrivelse

This article helps you resolve the Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP) Data Integrity app authorization failure that appears after a sandbox refresh.

When you open the Data Integrity app settings and click Authorize, you receive the notification:

Something's missing. Hmm, that didn't work.

and the app does not connect to the backend service.

Trigger condition: a sandbox refresh (or a My Domain change) after which the Remote Site Setting URL and the API Endpoint custom metadata record still reference the old org endpoint, causing OAuth authentication to fail.

This affects administrators authorizing the Data Integrity app. The account performing the authorization needs the Customize Application and Manage Auth. Providers permissions.

Customers describe this as:

  • "after we refresh our sandbox... when I attempt to authorize Data Integrity it displays 'Something's missing'"
  • "invalid authentication error"
  • "the Data Integrity app stopped working after the refresh"
Løsning

Follow these steps in order to correct the endpoint configuration and reauthorize the Data Integrity app after a sandbox refresh.

  1. Confirm your sandbox My Domain. Go to Setup > My Domain. Note the exact hostname, for example yourdomain--sandboxname.sandbox.my.salesforce.com.
  2. Update the Remote Site Setting. Go to Setup > Remote Site Settings. Open the record named API Endpoint. Set the Remote Site URL to the sandbox insights endpoint that matches your My Domain, in the format https://yourdomain--sandboxname.sfdo-insights.sfdc.sh (replace yourdomain--sandboxname with your actual My Domain prefix from step 1). Set Active to checked. Click Save.
  3. Update the API Endpoint custom metadata record. Go to Setup > Custom Metadata Types. Next to API Endpoint, click Manage Records. Open the endpoint record and set the URL field to the same value you entered in step 2. Click Save.
  4. Clear any cached authorization. Go to Setup > Connected Apps OAuth Usage (or OAuth Connected Apps) and revoke any existing Data Integrity token that references the pre-refresh domain.
  5. Reauthorize the Data Integrity app. Open the Data Integrity app from the App Launcher. Go to Settings > App Authorization and click Reauthorize. When prompted, log in with a user that has the Customize Application and Manage Auth. Provider permissions, and complete the OAuth consent screen.
  6. If you see "invalid username, password, security token" during authorization, reset the security token. Go to Personal Settings > Reset My Security Token, retrieve the new token from email, and re-enter credentials (username plus the new token appended to the password if the integration requires token concatenation).

Confirm resolution: Open the Data Integrity app, click Reauthorize, and verify the authorization completes without the "Something's missing. Hmm, that didn't work." notification and the app loads data.
