Data 360: Legacy S3 Data Stream Fails with INVALID_CREDENTIALS.

Customers may observe that a Legacy S3 Data Stream continues to fail authentication even after updating the AWS credentials from: Data Cloud Setup → Connections
The ingestion job continues failing with: Error: INVALID_CREDENTIALS

Legacy S3 Data Streams use credentials stored within an internal connection automatically created by Data Cloud when the Data Stream is configured.

These credentials are owned and managed by the Data Stream, not by the connection entry visible in the Connections UI.

In some cases, the Data Source associated with the Data Stream may have the same name as a Connection, which can make it appear that updating the Connection credentials is the correct action. However, these are separate objects, and changes made in the Connections UI do not update the credentials used by the Legacy S3 Data Stream.

Solución

Update the AWS credentials directly from the Data Stream configuration instead of the Connections UI.

Steps to Update Credentials

  1. Navigate to Data Cloud → Data Streams.
  2. Open the affected Legacy S3 Data Stream (for example: IOC_SCV_Users).
  3. Click Edit.
  4. Re-enter both:
    • AWS Access Key
    • AWS Secret Key
  5. Save the changes.

    Important: Both credential fields must be re-entered. Updating only the AWS Access Key will not fully refresh the credentials.

After saving the updated credentials, the next scheduled ingestion run will automatically use the refreshed credentials.
