My Salesforce Certification Expired — What Are My Options?

 

If your Salesforce certification expired because you missed the maintenance window, this article explains your options: requesting reinstatement, retaking the exam, and understanding cascade expiry.

 

What Happens When a Certification Expires

When a Salesforce certification expires, it no longer appears as active on your Trailblazer profile. Certifications that list the expired certification as a prerequisite will also expire (cascade expiry).

 

Option 1: Request Reinstatement

1. Open a support case at help.salesforce.com.

2. Select Trailhead > Certifications as the product and topic.

3. Explain when your certification expired and the circumstances.

4. Attach any documentation of your previous certification status.

Reinstatement is not guaranteed — reviewed case-by-case.

 

Option 2: Retake the Exam

For certifications that have expired more than one cycle, register to retake the exam at full price on https://trailheadacademy.salesforce.com.

 

Cascade Expiry

If a prerequisite certification expires, any certifications that require it will also expire.
