In-Kind Gift Opportunity Not Appearing in NPSP Total Gifts Rollups on Account or Contact

Publiceringsdatum: Jul 29, 2026
Beskrivning

Symptom: opening an account (or contact) linked to a donation opportunity shows no donation totals — Total Gifts displays $0.00 — even though the opportunity itself shows the full amount and is Closed Won. In the reported case, the account's only opportunity ("Alteryx - $258,500 - 10/21/2025 - Corporation") displayed correctly, but its $258,500 did not appear in the account's or the contact's Total Gifts.

Root-cause chain:

  1. The opportunity uses the "In-Kind Gift" record type.
  2. The org's NPSP Customizable Rollups hard credit filter group ("Opps: Won (HC) Excl RecTypes") contains a rule on Opportunity Record Type with operator "Does Not Contain / Not In List" whose value includes "In-Kind Gift." A matching soft credit filter group ("Opps: Won (SC) Excl RecTypes") does the same for soft credit.
  3. Because the record type is excluded by the filter, the opportunity's amount is not counted in the Total Gifts rollups on either the account or the contact.

This is working as designed. Excluding in-kind gifts from cash-giving rollups is a common, deliberate NPSP configuration so that non-cash gifts do not inflate cash-giving totals.

Lösning

First decide the intended reporting behavior:

  • If in-kind gifts should not count toward donation totals, this is working as intended and no action is needed.
  • If in-kind gifts should be included in Total Gifts, an administrator can adjust the filter groups as below.

To include in-kind gifts in the rollups:

  1. Click the gear icon (top right), then Setup.
  2. In the Setup search box, type "NPSP Settings" and open it.
  3. Go to Donations, then Customizable Rollups.
  4. Select "Filter Groups."
  5. Open the hard credit filter group ("Opps: Won (HC) Excl RecTypes"). Find the rule on the Opportunity Record Type field with operator "Does Not Contain / Not In List" whose value includes "In-Kind Gift."
  6. Edit that rule to remove "In-Kind Gift" from the value, then Save.
  7. To include in-kind gifts in soft credit totals as well, repeat the same edit on the soft credit filter group ("Opps: Won (SC) Excl RecTypes").
  8. Return to NPSP Settings, go to Bulk Data Processes, then Recalculate Rollups, and run it for Accounts and Contacts. Totals update once the batch completes.

This change applies org-wide: every account and contact with an in-kind gift will have those amounts added to donation totals. Confirm internally that this is the intended reporting behavior before running the recalculation.
