Sheets/worksheets still show up as tabs in web edit even after using "Hide All Sheets" on Tableau Server

Publish Date: Jul 31, 2026
Task

On Tableau Server, when trying to publish only the dashboard tab(s) of a workbook (with all feeding worksheets hidden), the worksheets still appeared as visible tabs — even though "Hide All Sheets" had been applied.

Steps
  1. Open the workbook in web edit mode on Tableau Server.
  2. Right-click each worksheet tab that feeds a dashboard and note that even after selecting Hide All Sheets, those sheets can still surface as tabs in the published view.
  3. Right-click each individual worksheet tab → uncheck the Publish checkbox in the context menu (leave "Publish" checked only on the dashboard tab(s)).
    • Note: "Publish" and "Hide" are different — Hide keeps the sheet in the workbook but out of the tab strip while still feeding the dashboard; Publish controls whether the tab is included in the published output at all.
  4. Click Save (not Save As) to overwrite the workbook in place on the same Server/project.
  5. Confirm only the dashboard tab(s) now show for viewers.

Resolution: Unchecking "Publish" on the worksheet tabs (instead of relying solely on "Hide All Sheets") successfully limited the published workbook to showing only the dashboard tab.
