Leftover Package Metadata and Objects Remaining After 1GP Managed Package Uninstall

Julkaisupäivä: Sep 22, 2026
Kuvaus

When a First-Generation Managed Package (1GP) uninstall completes successfully, subscriber metadata components can remain in the org if their underlying PackageMember system records were missing prior to uninstallation. Because the uninstallation engine relies on PackageMember rows to identify which metadata items to remove, it skips any orphaned components.

Symptoms & Behavior

  • Orphaned metadata components across any metadata type remain visible in the subscriber org with their NamespacePrefix still intact.

  • Dependencies between leftover components prevent manual deletion (e.g., leftover custom objects cannot be removed because orphaned Apex classes or Visualforce pages still reference them).

  • Deployments via Metadata API (such as destructiveChanges.xml) fail with errors indicating the namespace is invalid for the organization or that file names mismatch.

  • Editing or modifying code/components to remove references fails because namespaced metadata cannot be compiled, edited, or updated in a subscriber org after the package is uninstalled.

  • Tooling API delete operations on leftover namespaced metadata rows are blocked in production environments.

Ratkaisu

Currently, there is no workaround or resolution available to manually delete or remove these leftover namespaced components in production once the package uninstallation has completed.

  • Standard administrative operations—including Metadata API deployments (destructiveChanges.xml), Tooling API delete calls, and other deployment tools—cannot remove leftover namespaced Apex or dependent metadata in production after the package has been uninstalled.
