Requirements for MCP for Agentforce

Your MCP server must meet these requirements.

• Functional and can be reached via network connection.
• Uses the Streamable HTTP transport protocol. HTTP+SSE is unsupported.
• If your server uses an authentication protocol, it must use OAuth 2.0 client credentials. We support some advanced authentication patterns with additional configuration, including OAuth 2.1 client credentials.

We recommend starting in a sandbox org with a new agent so you can safely test your agent’s performance and ensure compatibility. Then when you’re satisfied that your agent performs reliably, recreate your agent in a production org.

Before using MCP for Agentforce, complete these prerequisites.

• Set up Einstein generative AI.
• Enable Agentforce.
• Create an agent in Agentforce Builder in Agentforce Studio. Create an Agentforce Service agent or Agentforce Employee agent, which handle general use cases for customers or employees.
  

  Note MCP for Agentforce isn’t supported for agents created in the legacy Agentforce Builder, because of differences in the data model and Atlas reasoning engine.
