            Keyboard Shortcuts in Prompt Builder

            Access common Prompt Builder actions quickly using keyboard shortcuts. All shortcuts work within the Block Editor.

            Required Editions

            Available in: Lightning Experience
            Available in: Enterprise, Performance, and Unlimited Editions with the Einstein for Platform, or Einstein or Agentforce for Sales or Service add-on, or Agentforce Foundations

            Navigation and editing shortcuts

            Review these navigation and editing shortcuts.

            Note
            Note If a browser extension or another application overrides a keyboard shortcut, or if you configured that shortcut for a different action, the shortcut might not work in Prompt Builder.
            Action Windows macOS Description
            Navigate between blocks Up and down arrow keys Up and down arrow keys Move the cursor to the previous or next block.
            Select all Ctrl+a Cmd+a Select all content in a block or all blocks.
            Copy Ctrl+c Cmd+c Copy selected content or blocks.
            Paste Ctrl+v Cmd+v Paste content or blocks.

            Quick insertion shortcuts

            Insert block / / Open the command menu to insert conditional blocks, text blocks, and instructions.
            Insert resource @ @ Open the resource picker to insert merge fields.

            Template management shortcuts

            Review these template management shortcuts.

            Save Ctrl+s Cmd+s Save your prompt template.
            Create a new version Ctrl+Shift+S Cmd+Shift+S Save as a new template version.
            Preview Ctrl+Alt+p Cmd+Option+p Preview a sample response with test data.

            Shortcut considerations

            Review these shortcut considerations.

            • Shortcuts work regardless of which UI element has focus within Prompt Builder.
            • All shortcuts respect object-level and field-level security settings.
            • If an action can't be completed (for example, Save is disabled because the version is already published and immutable), nothing happens.
            • Browser-native shortcuts aren't triggered when using Prompt Builder shortcuts (for example, Ctrl+s doesn't open the browser's save dialog).

            View the shortcuts menu Ctrl+/ Cmd+/ Open the full shortcuts reference window.

            Review the keyboard shortcuts help screen. Follow these guidelines to access the keyboard shortcuts help screen.

            • Press Ctrl+/ (Windows or Linux) or Cmd+/ (macOS) to open the keyboard shortcuts help window.
            • The window displays all available shortcuts with platform-appropriate key labels.
            • Close the window by pressing Esc, clicking outside it, or clicking the close icon.
            • The help screen is also accessible from the overflow menu in the Prompt Builder header.
