Disable an Object Search Index

Disable an Object Search Index

Disable indexing for an object to stop making its data searchable and stop index credit consumption for that object.

Required Editions

Available in: Einstein Search in Lightning Experience
User Permissions Needed
To use Search Manager: Customize Application AND View Setup

When you disable an object’s search index, the associated data becomes unsearchable across Salesforce searches, and indexing that object stops consuming credits. Users can still access the object from list views, record pages, reports, SOQL queries, and APIs. Flows and integrations that pull directly from the object are unaffected.

Note
Note This setting applies only to DMOs. Standard CRM objects are controlled by Salesforce and can’t be disabled from Search Manager. Custom objects with Make Searchable unchecked in Object Manager don’t appear in Search Manager.
  1. From Setup, open the main menu.
  2. In the Quick Find box, enter Search Manager.
  3. Select Search Manager, then select Search Setup.
  4. Navigate to Configure Search Metadata.
  5. Locate the index in the list.
  6. Turn off the Searchable toggle.
