Create Semantic Models Using the CRM Analytics Metadata Bridge

Use the CRM Analytics Metadata Bridge to create a semantic layer from your CRM Analytics dashboards for use in Tableau Next workspaces.

The CRM Analytics Metadata Bridge is a guided flow that analyzes your most-used dashboards, creates the relevant objects in Data 360, and generates a valid semantic model in four steps:

  1. Selection of source CRM Analytics dashboards
  2. Data lake object (DLO) creation
  3. Data model object (DMO) mapping
  4. Semantic model generation

The bridge flow saves your progress, so you can stop and resume at any time.

At each step of the flow, you control the selection of recipes, dataflows, and data objects, while the flow maps the data for you. The flow identifies data objects already mapped in Data 360 and doesn't duplicate them.

The bridge generates calculated fields for the semantic model based on recipe formulas.

Note
Note Calculated fields use Agentforce credits for orgs on legacy Tableau Next licenses. If your org has unmetered Tableau Next permission sets, no credits are used. For more information, see Tableau Next Permission Sets and Licenses.

You can run the bridge as many times as needed. Each generation flow creates or extends a unique semantic model.

These semantic models unlock the Tableau Next semantic layer, letting you create metrics and visualizations and work with Tableau Agent in Tableau Next.

After the bridge generates or adds data to a semantic model, add field and object descriptions to improve AI readiness.

Note
Note The bridge automatically resolves cycles in object relationships, you can't manually override cycle resolution. A cycle occurs when object relationships create a loop, such as Account → Contact → Opportunity → Account. Unresolved cycles make a semantic model unusable for queries.

Limitations

The CRM Analytics Metadata Bridge doesn't support these capabilities:

  • Extracting data from dashboard queries or widget-level metadata.
  • Extracting CRM Analytics formulas as calculated fields in the semantic model.
  • Extracting object descriptions into the generated semantic model.
  • Generating granular field or object descriptions.

Use Tableau Semantic Models for Data Insights

After the bridge generates your semantic model, use your model to define, govern, and query all your business metrics. For more information on building and configuring semantic models in Tableau Next workspaces, see Tableau Semantics.
