Add Hierarchy Filters to Sub-Metrics (Beta)
Use sub-metrics to provide additional granularity and track more detailed performance indicators scoped to specific teams or reporting lines in your organizational hierarchy.
- An organizational hierarchy needs be added to your semantic model. See Add an Organizational Hierarchy to a Semantic Model (Beta).
- The parent metric should exist. See Add Hierarchy Filters to Metrics (Beta) for setup instructions.
A sub-metric breaks down the main metric into more specific, actionable data points. When an organizational hierarchy is present in the semantic model, you can filter sub-metrics by hierarchy level to show insights for specific teams or reporting lines.
- In Data 360, on the Semantic Layer tab, select the Metrics tab.
- Search for the metric that you want to add a sub-metric to.
- From the options menu, select Add Sub-Metric.
- From the filter options, select a hierarchy.
-
Preview the sub-metric result in the right panel to confirm the scoping.
The preview shows the parent metric with the hierarchy filter applied.
- Save the sub-metric.
