Extend an Existing Semantic Model with the Reports Metadata Bridge (Beta)

Use the Reports Metadata Bridge to add data from your Lightning Experience report types to an existing Customer 360 (C360) semantic model in Tableau Next, without changing the original model.

The extend flow is a guided flow that analyzes your most-used reports, compares them against an existing semantic model, and adds only the new data to a semantic model in five steps:

1. Semantic model selection
2. Source report type selection
3. Data lake object (DLO) mapping for new source objects
4. Data model object (DMO) mapping for new source objects
5. Semantic model generation

The extend flow saves your progress, so you can stop and resume at any time.

At each step of the flow, you control the selection of reports and data objects, while the flow maps the data for you. The flow identifies data objects already covered by the selected semantic model and doesn't duplicate them.

The base semantic model isn't modified. The bridge creates a new semantic model that extends the base with the additional data you select.

After the bridge generates a semantic model, add field and object descriptions to improve AI readiness.

Note The bridge automatically resolves cycles in object relationships. You can't manually override cycle resolution. A cycle occurs when object relationships create a loop, such as Account → Contact → Opportunity → Account. Unresolved cycles make a semantic model unusable for queries.
