Use Organizational Hierarchies in Data 360 Reports (Beta)

Use organizational hierarchies in Semantic Data Model reports to analyze data based on role or manager relationships defined in your semantic model. This is useful when your users need to view report data scoped to their position in your company. For example, managers can view records for users below them in the hierarchy, or view all records without hierarchy-based filtering.

Note Organizational Hierarchies in Data 360 Reports is a pilot or beta service that is subject to the Beta Services Terms at Agreements - Salesforce.com or a written Unified Pilot Agreement if executed by Customer, and applicable terms in the Product Terms Directory. Use of this pilot or beta service is at the Customer’s sole discretion.

Supported Hierarchy Types

Organizational hierarchy reporting supports these hierarchy types:

  • Role hierarchy - Filters report data based on roles defined in your org's hierarchy.
  • Manager hierarchy - Filters report data based on manager-to-user relationships.

How Organizational Hierarchy Reporting Works

Organizational hierarchies are defined in the Semantic Data Model authoring page using the User and User Role data model objects (DMOs).

Note Organizational hierarchy filtering is available only for reports based on a Semantic Data Model.

Before applying an organizational filter, define a role or manager hierarchy in the semantic model. When the semantic model used by a report includes a supported organizational hierarchy, you can add an organizational filter from the report's Filters panel.

Select a hierarchy and define the scope of the report data:

  • My team's records - Shows your records and records for all users below you in the selected hierarchy.
  • All records - Shows all records without an organizational hierarchy filter.

Note If report data doesn't contain a matching field for the selected hierarchy, or if no data is available, the report returns no records.
  • Filter Report Data by Organizational Hierarchy (Beta)
    Add an organizational filter to a Semantic Data Model report to scope the data by a role or manager hierarchy defined on the underlying semantic model. Select whether to see your team's records or all records in the hierarchy tree.
