Guided Tableau Next Setup
Get up and running with Tableau Next through the guided setup process. Configure Data 360, choose admin users, activate AI features, and define data security policies for standard objects.
Required Editions

- Install Data 360 Components
Tableau Next automatically creates a Data 360 instance when it is provisioned. - Enable Tableau Next
Turn on Tableau Next. This also assigns you a Data Cloud Architect and Tableau Unmetered Admin permission set. - Select Admin Users
Choose users to manage Tableau Next. They’re assigned the Tableau Unmetered Admin permission set. - Turn On AI Features
Set up Tableau Agent and other AI features. Grant agent access to admin users. - Connect Standard Objects
Import records from standard objects into Data 360. - Secure Your Data
Select the default data access level and choose record-level access policies for data in standard objects.
Install Data 360 Components
Tableau Next automatically creates a Data 360 instance when it is provisioned.
If a Data 360 instance is present, Tableau Next uses that instance.
Enable Tableau Next
Turn on Tableau Next. This also assigns you a Data Cloud Architect and Tableau Unmetered Admin permission set.
- From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Tableau Next and then select Tableau Next Setup.

Enable Tableau Next.
If Tableau Next is already enabled, someone in your org has already done this or set up Marketing Performance for Marketing Cloud.
Select Admin Users
Choose users to manage Tableau Next. They’re assigned the Tableau Unmetered Admin permission set.
- Select Add Admins.
- Search for and select users.
- Save your selections.
Turn On AI Features
Set up Tableau Agent and other AI features. Grant agent access to admin users.
AI setup configures Data 360 connections, enables Einstein and Agentforce, creates a Tableau Agent, assigns admins agent access permissions, and activates Tableau Next features including semantic authoring and metric insight summaries.

Connect Standard Objects
Import records from standard objects into Data 360.
- Select Load Data.
- Start the process to connect and load data from the standard objects into the Data Lake Objects in the standard semantic model.
- Close the window at any time. To review the status, select Load Data again.
We’ll notify you when the data is loaded.
Secure Your Data
Select the default data access level and choose record-level access policies for data in standard objects.
- Select Configure Access.

Choose the default visibility for records based on ownership and then click
Next.
Owner Only Users can view records they own. Role Hierarchy Users can view records they own and records owned by users below them in the role hierarchy. Manager Hierarchy Users can view records they own and records owned by users below them in the manager hierarchy. - Review the list of default policies and choose which to include.
- Apply selected governance policies.
