          Highlight Data Patterns in Tables with Color Encoding

          Apply color or a range of colors to measure values or their cell backgrounds in a Tableau Next table to highlight key values, such as profit or sales. Use calculated fields with color encoding to highlight values that meet specific criteria.

          Required Editions

          To customize colors in a Tableau Next tables: Tableau Unmetered Platform Analyst or Tableau Next Platform Analyst permission set

          For example, pinpoint underperforming product categories by creating a calculated field that evaluates profitability. Then assign colors based on the results.

          1. In Table view, drag a measure or calculated field onto Color in the Marks section. For the table in the example, select the calculated field that indicates the profit status for each product.

          2. To apply color to cell values or backgrounds, click Text or Bar from the All dropdown menu.
          3. To customize colors applied to the table, click Color.
          4. Set colors for Start Value and End Value.
          5. To include a midpoint, select Center Value and set its color.

            To restore default values, click Tableau Next Reset button in Tableau Next Edit Color in the Edit Colors window.
