Replace a Semantic Model with an Extended Semantic Model
When you extend a semantic model with additional calculations, data objects, or modified
relationships, you can update an existing visualization with the latest data from the extended
version.Tableau Next automatically maps matching fields based on API name, object name, and data
type.
To extend semantic models in Tableau Next visualizations:
Tableau Unmetered Platform Analyst or Tableau Next Platform Analyst permission set
From the semantic model’s context menu in the visualization, click Replace
Semantic Model.
Select the extended semantic model and click Replace.
Existing mappings are preserved when matching fields are found. New fields from the
extended semantic model are also available for analysis.
If Tableau Next doesn’t map a field automatically, drag the corresponding field from the
extended semantic model to replace it in the visualization.
