Using Non-Production B2C Commerce Environments with Data 360
Starting with release 26.1, you can use non-production B2C Commerce environments with Data 360 features such as Engagement Events and Near Real-Time Segmentation.
Previously, you couldn't use non-production instances with Data 360 features, which were available only for production instances serving live traffic. You can now enable these features for non-production instances to test your configurations, validate your data flows, and develop integrations without affecting production data.
Supported non-production B2C Commerce instances include:
- On-demand sandboxes (ODS)
- Development instances
- Staging instances
- Production instances in designated test realms (realms not serving live traffic)
Data from non-production instances is processed separately, keeping it isolated from your production data.
Enable Data 360 for Non-Production Instances
To use Data 360 features with a non-production instance, turn on the Enable Reports & Dashboards Data Tracking feature switch. For instructions, see Set Feature Switches (Toggles) in B2C Commerce.
After enabling the feature switch, wait up to 2 hours for provisioning to complete.
Features Available on Non-Production Environments
The following Data 360 features are available for non-production instances:
- Apache Iceberg Connector: Ingest B2C Commerce domain data (including products, orders, customer profiles, and custom attributes) into Data 360.
- Salesforce B2C Commerce Intelligence Connector: Query B2C Commerce data from Data 360.
- Engagement Events: Send shopper engagement events to Data 360 for segmentation and personalization.
- Near Real-Time Segmentation: Use Data 360 segments to personalize shopper experiences.
Features Unavailable on Non-Production Environments
The following Data 360 feature is not available for non-production instances:
- B2C Commerce Connector: Transactional data ingestion to Data 360 (order bundles, customer profiles) is not supported for non-production instances.
Use Cases
Common use cases for non-production environment support include:
- Testing Data 360 integrations: Validate data flows, segment configurations, and activations before deploying to production.
- Development and QA: Use Development or Staging instances to build and test storefront integrations with Data 360.
- Sandbox experimentation: Use on-demand sandboxes to prototype new configurations without affecting production data.
- Demonstrations: Use designated test realms to showcase Data 360 capabilities to stakeholders.
