Merchant Account Considerations for Adyen and Stripe

Merchant Account Considerations for Adyen and Stripe

Before you configure merchant accounts in a B2B Commerce or Pay Now store, understand how your Salesforce org type determines whether you use live or test accounts for Adyen and Stripe.

How Org Type Determines Account Type

Production orgs use live merchant accounts, which process real transactions. Use live accounts in production only. Don't use live accounts for testing or development, except for a few final validation transactions just before you go live.

Non-production orgs, such as Developer Edition orgs and sandboxes, use test merchant accounts. Test accounts don't process real funds.

You can't switch a merchant account between test and live mode, and you can't promote a merchant account from a non-production org to production. Create separate test accounts for your non-production orgs and a live account for your production org.

Adyen

Adyen uses separate infrastructure for test and live merchant accounts, which is why you can't switch an account between modes.

Stripe

Salesforce Payments doesn't support Stripe sandbox accounts. To onboard a live Stripe merchant account, provide accurate business and customer information. Test accounts don't require verification, so you can submit any information during onboarding.
