Point of Sale Vertex Common Questions
Find answers to common questions about tax rates, offline fees, tiered taxes, promotions, and token refresh behavior for the Vertex integration.
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| How many decimal places are supported in the tax rates columns? | 5 decimal places. |
| How are fees handled in offline mode for fee-based taxes? | Fees must be modeled as a tax, as there is no special handling for fees in offline mode. This would require a new feature or enhancement. |
| How are tiered and threshold-based taxes handled in the RTE file (for example, order total under $110 taxed at 0%, and above $110 taxed at a specific percentage)? | Taxes are applied at the product level using a tax class. Each tax class has a tax rate, and the product's tax class determines the tax rate and compute taxes when the POS is offline. |
| If the call to Vertex fails online, do we use the offline file for tax calculation? | No, we don't use offline files as a fallback for Vertex API failures. There is no retry mechanism. |
| How are BOGO promotions represented by Point of Sale? | For BOGO promotions, we send the adjusted price in the request. For example, if Item A is $100 and two of them are added to the cart, with one discounted at 100%, the request includes quantity 2 and unitPrice $50. |
| Is there a way to set a default tax code when a product has an incorrectly configured tax code, so customers can still purchase the product? | We don't support a default tax class. If a tax class isn't specified, an error occurs. |
| Does the Vertex connector refresh the token when it expires? | Yes, the token is refreshed before it expires. |
