Configure Vertex Product Field Mapping for Point of Sale

Map the tax class attribute from your product feed to a custom field so Point of Sale can calculate taxes correctly in offline mode.

  • Modern POS App Build: 10.2.1 or greater
  • Platform Support: iPad & iPhone
  • Offline Support: Yes

This task applies only if you upload products using feed files and you support both online and offline transactions. If you upload products using an API, provide the tax class using the selected custom attribute in the payload. For payload specification, refer to Point of Sale's SwaggerHub documentation.

To support tax calculation in offline mode, use the following product feed attribute mapping to add tax type dynamically while setting up the field mapping for product feed.

  1. In CMS, go to Feeds | Field Mapping | Products.
  2. Under Source Fields, map the custom attribute (for example, taxClassID) that is selected for tax class from the product feed file to any unused custom attributes (for example, CustomString12).
A graphic shows source and target fields.
  3. Back in CMS, go to Store Management | Store Setting | Checkout.
  4. Expand Tax.
  5. Under Product Field to read tax class, enter the custom string you've previously mapped to ensuring it's case sensitive and in the camelCase format (for example, customString12).
A form field indicates a product field name.
Note
Note There is no need to send a separate tax class field in the product feed.

The below screenshot is an example where the tax class "GENERIC" is configured in the product feed. During offline processing, it's used to determine the tax rate. This product feed setting is required for offline processing as offline processing supports a default tax class that's configured for all store locations.

Important
Important Upload the product feed after these settings are complete.

A screen displays fields and settings for field transformation.
