Set Up Layout Segmentation

Set Up Layout Segmentation

Personalize layouts within your Point of Sale app by setting up segments through CMS. Customize user experiences by creating and assigning layout groups to app configurations, enhancing usability and engagement.

Layouts can be personalized within an app config based on various segments that are set up through CMS.

Set Up a Segment

  1. In CMS, navigate to Layouts | Layout Pages | Personalization | Segments.
  2. Click the Create button. A segment refers to a specific user demographic.
  3. Enter a descriptive segment name.
  4. Select a segment type. Supported segment types include:
    • Loyalty Tier
    • Demographic
    • Gender
    • Is Profile Complete
    • Is Gift Eligible
    • Logged In Status
    • App Version
    • Store Associate Role
    • Segment Group
  5. Enter a segment value based on the chosen segment type. This is either a text value, a numerical value, a set of pre-defined options, or in the case of a Segment Group a set of segments that form the segment group.
  6. Click Save to save the segment, or Cancel to discard changes.
    Note
Note Segment groups allow multiple segments to be used for the personalization of layouts, with all segments having to match to satisfy the segment condition.

Set Up a Layout Group

After segments have been set up, layout groups are defined to associate specific segments (or segment groups) with specific layouts to be displayed when the segments (or segment groups) are satisfied. To set up layout groups:

  1. In CMS, navigate to Layouts | Layout Pages | Personalization | Layout Groups.
  2. Click the + icon to create a new layout group.
  3. Enter a name for the layout group.
  4. Select a layout and a segment to be associated with that layout.
  5. To add additional layout/segment combinations to the layout group click the + icon.
  6. After all layouts and segments have been added, select one of the combinations to be the default layout/segment for this layout group. This is done by selecting the Set as Default checkbox for one layout/segment.

The default layout/segment will result in that layout being displayed if the user's demographics don't match any of the defined segments.

  7. To aid in selecting the correct layouts while setting up layout groups, a preview of the selected layout is displayed in the Layout Preview screen to the right of the dialogue.
  8. Layout/segment combinations can also be removed from the layout group by clicking on the red trash can icon to the right of the layout/segment.
  9. Once all layouts/segments have been added to the layout group, click Save to save the layout group, or Cancel to discard changes.

Assign Layout Groups to App Configs

Layout groups are assigned to app config tabs in much the same way as individual layouts are, like this.An app config in the editor showing layout groups assigned to tabs.

  1. Set Behavior to Layout Group.
  2. Select a Layout Group from the drop-down.
  3. After a layout group is selected, a list of layouts and segments appears to show the layouts that will be displayed when specific segments are satisfied by the user demographics. These layouts can be clicked on to display a preview of the layout in the UI.
  4. Click Save to save the app config changes, or Cancel to discard changes.

Enable Layout Groups in Apps
