Configure Discounts and Price Corrections for POS

Set Item-Level Discounts, Price Corrections, and Tax Exemptions

Note If your POS is operating on a build before 11.4, the POS app respects the legacy toggles and discount configurations from the Login API response.

1. In CMS, go to Apps.
2. To edit you store’s app configuration, hover over your store’s iPad image, then click Edit.
3. Go to Modules | POS.
4. Under Discounts & Overrides, edit the Product-Level Discounts, Overrides, and Tax Exemptions setting.
5. Select the fulfillment types that are allowed to have discounts and price corrections. If you don’t select any fulfillment types, then item-level discounts and corrections aren’t allowed.
6. To disable item-level tax exemptions, turn off Product-Level Tax Exemption.

Enable Transaction-Level Discounts

1. In CMS, go to Apps.
2. To edit you store’s app configuration, hover over your store’s iPad image, then click Edit.
3. Go to Modules | POS.
4. Under Discounts & Overrides, turn on Transactional Discounts.

Set Discount Limits

Configure the maximum amount or percentage discount that a store associate can apply without requiring a manager's override. For example, you can cap discounts at a specific percentage. If you set the limit at 15%, any discount (line-item or transaction) above 15% triggers a prompt for manager approval in the POS app.

1. In CMS, go to Store Management | Store Settings | Cash.
2. Expand Transaction Limits.
3. Set the maximum amount or maximum percentage that a store associate can apply at checkout.

Set Manager Approval Policies for Manual Discounts and Price Corrections

Configure approval policies for both item-level and transaction-level discounts and price corrections. When these policies are in place, manager credentials are required to authorize adjustments made in the POS app.

1. In CMS, go to Store Management | Associates | Approval Policies Configuration.
2. Click Create.
3. For Policy Feature, select:
   • Line Item Discount for item-level discounts.
   • Transaction Discount for transaction-level discounts.
   • Price Correction for price overrides.
4. For Approving Policies, select roles that can approve this policy.

Set Reason Codes for Discounts and Price Corrections

1. In CMS, go to Store Management | Reason Codes.
2. Create codes for item-level discounts, transaction-level discounts, and price corrections.
