How Product Bundles Work in Point of Sale App
A product bundle groups a parent item with its required child items. Associates sell, return, and fulfill the bundle as one unit across product search, the cart, promotions, returns, and store fulfillment.
A product bundle has one parent and one or more required child items, each identified by an ID. The parent carries the bundle's description, image, and price, but has no inventory of its own. Each child keeps its own inventory and price, and depletes normally when an associate sells, returns, or exchanges the bundle.
Bundles in Product Search and Bundle Details
Bundles appear in product search results only when the Show Product Bundles in Regular Search store setting is on. When they do, a "Bundle" banner replaces any banner configured for that product in CMS, and the bundle ID is scannable and searchable, just like a product ID.
Tapping a bundle opens a bundle product page showing its image, description, price, and a single quantity stepper and fulfillment selector for the whole bundle. Tapping the Select Your Style button on a child item opens a separate page where your associate selects that child's style, such as color or size.
The Add to Cart button stays off until your associate selects a style for every child. Selecting a variant doesn't change the bundle's price. The price and sale price come from the Product Bundle feed and stay fixed no matter which variant a shopper picks.
Bundles in the Cart
In the cart, a bundle shows as one line for the parent, with its children linked underneath. Associates change quantity and fulfillment at the bundle level only—not on individual children. Associates can't remove a child on its own. To back out of a bundle, remove the whole line, then optionally add any items back individually at regular price.
Discounts, manual price corrections, and every other cart action apply to the bundle line as a whole, the same as for a regular product line.
Promotions for Bundles
Create promotions for bundles by targeting the bundle ID, the same way you target a product variant ID for a regular product. A bundle promotion applies only to that exact bundle—not to its children. A promotion for a child product doesn't apply to the bundle. When a bundle qualifies, the discount shows at the bottom of its row in the cart, the same as for a regular product line.
Returns and Exchanges for Bundles
Associates return or exchange a receipted bundle as a complete unit. The app treats the whole bundle as the returned item, and the associate confirms that every child is coming back before completing the return. Exchanging a bundle reopens the bundle product page, where the associate rebuilds it by selecting a style for each child.
Bundles in Store Fulfillment and Receipts
For buy-online-pickup-in-store (BOPIS) orders, associates pack a bundle as one unit and can't pack children separately. If a child is out of stock, out-of-stock handling applies to the whole bundle, not just that child. An exchange for a BOPIS bundle also applies at the bundle level.
On printed receipts, a bundle prints as a parent line with its name, quantity, and price, followed by its children as a group. Each child shows its identity and variant selection, but not a separate price.
