Simplify Segment Filters with Shortcuts
Save commonly used segment filter attributes with their data model paths as shortcuts to reuse them across segments and activations. Instead of navigating the attribute library to find the right data model object (DMO), path, and attribute each time, you can select a saved shortcut that has the required configuration.

When you build segments, finding the right attribute often requires knowledge of your organization's data model, including which DMOs to use and which paths connect them. Attribute shortcuts reduce that complexity by saving the segment-on object, path, and target attribute as a reusable filter. Create a shortcut one time, and any user with segment-building permissions can use it across segments. You can apply the same filter criteria consistently.
Attribute shortcuts appear in a dedicated Shortcuts tab in the attribute library panel alongside the existing data model tab. The Shortcuts tab appears only after you save your first shortcut.
How Attribute Shortcuts Work
Each attribute shortcut stores these components.
- The segment-on object that segments are built on
- The object path from the segment-on object to the target DMO
- The target attribute on the final DMO in the path
When you add a shortcut to a segment, Data 360 applies the saved path and attribute configuration automatically. You then configure only the operator and values for your filter criteria.
Attribute shortcuts operate at the filter level, not the container level. A shortcut stores the attribute itself and its path but doesn't capture container-level context, such as aggregation settings or other filters in the same container.
Considerations
Keep these points in mind when working with attribute shortcuts.
- Use a unique name for every shortcut. If you try to save a shortcut with a name that's in use, you're prompted to select a different name.
- Each attribute path can have only one shortcut. If a shortcut exists for a given path, you can use the existing shortcut or provide a unique path to create one.
- Shortcuts are scoped to the data space where they're created.
- Shortcuts are saved at the org level.
- Shortcuts are packageable through DataKits, making them deployable across orgs and sandbox-compatible.
- Attribute shortcuts are limited to 500 per tenant as a guardrail.
A data specialist at a retail company frequently builds segments based on products that customers have purchased. The path from the Unified Individual profile through email to Product involves multiple DMOs. Instead of navigating this path each time, the specialist saves it as an attribute shortcut called "Product Drill Up" with the path Unified → Email → Product. Now, any team member building a segment can drag the "Product Drill Up" shortcut to the canvas and immediately start configuring filter values without knowing the underlying data model structure.
