Collaboration with an AWS Clean Rooms Provider
As a consumer using Data 360 clean rooms, you can initiate collaborations with a provider who uses AWS Clean Rooms. AWS-based providers use Data 360 once to create and publish the clean room package, then complete every other action in AWS Clean Rooms. Consumers manage their side of the collaboration entirely in Data 360.
Requirements and Restrictions
- When the provider of a clean room collaboration is using AWS Clean Rooms, they can only support custom collaboration templates in their clean room package.
- You can't allowlist a provider if they're using AWS Clean Rooms. The AWS collaboration flow always starts with a clean room package. When you allowlist, you can collaborate without a clean room package, but this option is only applicable with a Data 360 partner.
AWS Collaboration Process Overview
Here's the sequence of steps in a clean room collaboration with an AWS provider.
- Provider configures clean room package in Data Cloud Setup.
- Creates a clean room package in a Developer Edition packaging org. The package contains a custom collaboration template that specifies the terms of the collaboration. See Create a Clean Room Package.
- Publishes the package on AppExchange. This step is the provider's last action in Data 360. After the provider publishes the package, they wait for a consumer to send them a collaboration invitation. See Publish a Clean Room Package to AppExchange.
- Provider and consumer collaborate in a clean room.
- Consumer tasks in Data 360: Deploys the package from AppExchange, creates a clean room collaboration for the use case, and sends an invitation to the provider. See Create a Clean Room Collaboration and Invite a Provider.
- Provider tasks in the AWS Clean Rooms Console: Receives and accepts the invitation. For the steps the provider performs, see Setting up AWS Clean Rooms.
- Consumer tasks in Data 360: Runs queries against the shared dataset, according to the permissions defined in the collaboration template.
