            Create an Attribute Shortcut

            Save a frequently used attribute and its data model path as a shortcut so that you and other segment builders can reuse it without navigating the full attribute library each time.

            Required Editions

            Available in: All Editions supported by Data 360. See Data 360 edition availability.
            Permission Sets Needed
            To create attribute shortcuts:

            Any one of these permission sets:

            • Data Cloud Architect
            • Data Cloud Activation Manager
            • Data Cloud Activation Specialist

            Before you create an attribute shortcut, make sure that you've set up your data model and that you understand the path from the segment-on object to the target attribute.

            You create attribute shortcuts from within the segment builder while working with the attribute library. When you find an attribute you want to reuse across segments, you save it as a shortcut with a descriptive name. The shortcut captures the segment-on object, the path through related DMOs, and the target attribute. Other segment builders can then use the shortcut without extensive knowledge of the underlying data model configuration.

            1. In Data 360, click Segments.
            2. Open an existing segment and click Edit Rules, or create a new segment and go to the segment builder canvas.
            3. In the attribute library panel, search for the attribute you want to save as a shortcut. You can use either the direct attributes or related attributes section.
              Note
              Note For direct attributes that appear in more than one data model object, the left pane shows the path as you select the attribute. Confirm you're pulling from the intended object before saving it as a shortcut. How you navigate the attribute library determines the path for related attributes.
            4. Select the attribute to add it to the segment canvas.
            5. Click Save as Shortcut.
              The Save Attribute Shortcut window opens, showing the object path for the attribute.
            6. Enter a name for the shortcut.
              Choose a concise name that clearly describes the attribute's meaning and its relationship to the segment-on object. For example, use "Product Drill Up" rather than "unified_email_product_path."
            7. (Optional) Enter a description that explains what the shortcut represents.
            8. Save the shortcut.
              Data 360 saves your attribute shortcut and displays it in the Shortcuts tab of the attribute library panel.
            9. Click Done to confirm the filter on the segment canvas.
