Manage Semantic Enrichments

Manage Semantic Enrichments

Edit, deactivate, or delete semantic enrichments as your data model and business rules evolve.

Required Editions

Available in: All Editions supported by Data 360. See Data 360 edition availability.

As your data model, business rules, and terminology change, keep your semantic enrichments up to date to ensure the Data 360 Data Q&A Agent continues to provide accurate responses.

View and Filter Enrichments

  1. From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Semantic Enrichments, and select Semantic Enrichments (Beta).
  2. The Semantic Enrichments page displays all enrichments in a list view. Each row shows:
    • Name: The enrichment's display name
    • Scope: Data Space, Object, or Field
    • Status: Active or Inactive
    • Critical: Whether the enrichment is marked as critical
    • Tags: Organizing labels applied to the enrichment
  3. Use the filters at the top of the page to narrow the list:
    • Filter by Status to see only active or inactive enrichments.
    • Filter by Scope to see enrichments for a specific data space, object, or field.
    • Filter by Tags to find related enrichments grouped by category.

Edit an Enrichment

Update an enrichment's statement, scope, tags, or critical flag as your business rules change.

  1. From the Semantic Enrichments page, find the enrichment you want to edit.
  2. Click the enrichment's name to open it.
  3. Make your changes:
    • Update the Semantic Statement to reflect new business logic or improved clarity.
    • Adjust Tags to keep enrichments organized.
    • Change the Critical flag if priority has shifted.
    • Modify the Scope if the enrichment should apply more broadly or narrowly.
  4. Click Save.

Changes take effect immediately. Test the updated enrichment by asking the agent a related question.

Deactivate an Enrichment

Deactivate an enrichment when it's no longer relevant or needs revision. Inactive enrichments are not used by the agent, but they remain in the system and can be reactivated later.

  1. From the Semantic Enrichments page, find the enrichment you want to deactivate.
  2. Click the enrichment's name to open it.
  3. Change the Status to Inactive.
  4. Click Save.

To reactivate later, open the enrichment, set Status to Active, and save.

Delete an Enrichment

Permanently remove an enrichment when it's no longer needed. You can't undo this action.

  1. From the Semantic Enrichments page, find the enrichment you want to delete.
  2. Click the enrichment's name to open it.
  3. Click Delete.
  4. Confirm the deletion when prompted.
Warning
Warning Deleting an enrichment can't be undone. If you're unsure, deactivate it instead.

Organize with Tags

Use tags to group related enrichments by theme, domain, or purpose. For example:

  • revenue: All enrichments related to revenue calculations and fields
  • customer-segmentation: Rules for defining customer types and tiers
  • data-quality: Guidance on which fields to use or avoid
  • compliance: Rules related to regulatory requirements

Consistent tagging makes it easier to find, review, and update enrichments as your organization grows.

Best Practices

  • Review enrichments quarterly or when major data model changes occur.
  • Deactivate enrichments that conflict with new business rules rather than deleting them immediately.
  • Test enrichments after editing by asking the agent questions that should trigger them.
  • Use clear, consistent tags across your enrichments to simplify bulk management.
  • Document the reason for deactivating or deleting enrichments in team notes or change logs.
  • At scale (50+ enrichments), audit for conflicts regularly. Contradictory guidance for the same data can produce inconsistent responses.
  • Use the Critical flag sparingly. If too many enrichments are marked as critical, the prioritization becomes less effective.
  • Group related enrichments with consistent tags. For example, tag all revenue-related enrichments with "revenue" so you can review them together when revenue calculations change.
