Search Index Types in Data 360

Understand the differences in how search index types are managed in Data 360.

Agentic Data Library (ADL) Index Agentforce Data Library in Setup Data 360 Search Index tab

With file-based search indexes created through ADL after August 2026:

  • Chunk/Index DMOs are no longer directly queryable (SELECT * query returns 0 rows). But a scoped search query is possible. See the troubleshooting guide next for details.
  • Rebuild action isn't available.
  • The citation field is empty.
  • Process history is available.

No changes to the knowledge based ADL indexes.

No changes to ADL indexes on Government Cloud and Data Cloud One configurations.

Existing file-based ADL indexes aren’t automatically migrated to the new index method.

Troubleshooting Search Indexes Created Through ADL

There are three ways to make sure that files uploaded through ADL were successfully indexed:

  • The file status column in ADL UI indicates successful upload and indexing.
  • The Records Processed metric and Status label in the Process History tab for the search index in Data360.
  • A search query scoped by SourceRecordId__c. To get the SourceRecordId__c for a given file, query the source unstructured data model object (UDMO) the SearchIndex was built on, filtered by its FilePath field.
    SELECT Chunk__c
    FROM vector_search(
      TABLE(ADL_<name>_index__dlm),
      'test something',
      'SourceRecordId__c=''<library-id>/<filename>''',
      100
    )
