          OSI v0.1 Overview

          OSI v0.1 Overview

Tableau Semantics currently supports the initial release of the OSI open-source workflow (OSI v0.1).

OSI v0.1 is focused on semantic metadata representation and interchange. The specification is designed to standardize how semantic models are described and exchanged across platforms, rather than how they’re queried or run.

          Target Audience

At this stage, the experience is designed primarily for technical users and developers who are comfortable working with APIs, YAML files, and open-source tooling.

          Supported Semantic Structures

OSI v0.1 currently captures these structures:

          • Data objects
          • Relationships
          • Fields
          • Descriptions and AI context metadata

Relationships are established with default cardinality of many-to-many (M:M). Similarly, fields are inferred as dimensions or measures based on the available field metadata and data types. These properties can be modified as necessary.

          Note
          Note

OSI v0.1 provides an initial interoperability foundation for reusing semantic definitions across products and tools. As the OSI specification is at an early stage, custom extensions are currently required to capture all other semantics structures. See OSI Workflow for more details.
