Override a Field, Data Object, or Calculated Field Property

Override a Field, Data Object, or Calculated Field Property

Learn how to override a definition in a composed model. The process disconnects one or more definitions from a referenced model allowing you to keep the custom definition free from updates to the referenced model.

          Before you begin:

Verify you have created a composed model.

          1. Open the composed semantic model in the Semantic Model builder and locate the field, data object, or calculated field you want to override.
          2. Click Edit Properties.
          3. Click the property (or select multiple properties) that you want to change and enter a new value.
          4. When prompted, confirm the override.
            1. For a single property: click Override [Property Name] Settings.
            2. For multiple properties: click Override Selected Properties.
          5. Save your changes.

When the override is complete, the connection between the original property in the referenced data model and the overridden property in the composed data model is severed. An icon indicates that the property has an override applied. Updates made to the referenced model aren’t reflected in the overridden property. All other properties remain connected and receive updates.
